Flood Resilience for Wairarapa
Flood resilience is a top priority for Adrienne. Wairarapa faces increasing challenges from extreme weather events, and Adrienne is committed to implementing effective strategies to protect our communities, infrastructure, and livelihoods. This includes investing in improved drainage systems, strengthening riverbanks, and promoting sustainable land management practices.
This year Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC) is investing sixteen million dollars in flood resilience projects and warning systems.
GWRC has been lobbying central government for a permanent contribution for flood protection much the same as is government makes to councils for maintaining the nation's roads.
There is still much more to do in this area and Adrienne is committed to making this happen.

Improving Public Transport
Much has been said about public transport connections to Wairarapa, both north and south. Awaiting government sign-off are new trains to operate between Wellington city and Masterton. These will be battery/electric and be climate friendly. In total the project cost will be approximately $800,000,000.
My strong lobby has achieved new train stabling and a workshop in Masterton where the trains are to be maintained. This offers tremendous job opportunities for the region.

Environment
Many of the landowners throughout Wairarapa have made an enormous effort to improve the quality of waterways through stock exclusion and riparian planting. This has had a large positive impact on the health of our rivers.
GWRC supports this work through assistance with fencing and planting. We also actively support local catchment groups through the Catchment Collective.
GWRC lend a hand with educational environment programmes delivered through "Mountains to the Sea" and "Enviroschools".
Adrienne believes that continuing to expand this work is vital if we are to make the Wairarapa a better place for the future generations.

Being one Councillor of forteen means influence, experience and trust counts, particularly with all the changes currently proposed to local government.
For the Wairarapa this is not the time to try out a junior, inexperienced and untested option. With Adrienne as Councillor we start at the top of the table not the very bottom.
